Janet Abdoulaye – Middle School Social Studies

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis. I was later awarded the James Madison Memorial Fellowship, which enabled me to complete my Masters of Arts in US History at the University of Indianapolis.
I was hired by Maggie McClain to fill her classroom teaching position while she acted as principal for the 1997-98 school year. Happily, I have been here ever since.
I am the sponsor of the eighth grade class which includes several special events such as the spring class trip, May Crowning, service program, and graduation. I also sponsor the Social Studies Academic Super Bowl team. I lead the eighth graders through the We the People constitutional program and competition as part of their history program.
I believe eighth grade is an important transitional year between elementary and high school. Our students are learning to become self sufficient, contributing, responsible citizens in our community.
